Since the successful measures to secure the building in 2007 and 2008 with support from listed-building funds from the Free State of Saxony, the conception, project development and funding application for repairing the grandstand and energy-conserving renovation of the entire grandstand structure has been underway since 2009. The project is supported by the stimulus II programme. (Project management by Dr. Seidemann & Graw Projektentwicklung GmbH.)
On 26 August 2010 the Commission of the European Union approved, after review (notification process) of the project, investment measures funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Free State of Saxony and the City of Leipzig.
The comprehensive renovation work with a subsidised investment volume of around 2.1 million euros (net) can now begin. Completion is set for mid-2011.
